FUN, Funky, Stuff

What happens when you combined the need to make a few extra bucks, an awful economy for teens to find and job and a family trip to see the grandparents in New Hampshire?

The answer is obvious – an online business to start with and hopefully a retail operation down the road. We are definitely a family run enterprise with great friends support (Higher Ed Ryan our web guy and Val S. our social media goddess). Nancy is the workhorse, running the day to day business, refinishing and rehabbing found tresures and most importantly making it fun by “keeping our sense of the ridiculous” . Chris plays the traditional role as a hunter and gatherer, hunting at auctions and yard sales and gathering at thrift stores and his parents garage and basement. Jake (16) is our tech guy, helping with the website maintenance and postings. Zach (14) is strong, so he gets stuck moving stuff around for his mom and helping with what ever needs to done. Emma (7) is the “helper extraordinaire” with her time best spent keeping her older brothers in line.

What’s up with the name?

Funky = Characterized by originality and modishness; unconventional

Monkey = To play, fool, trifle, or meddle: often followed by around, with, or around with (verb)

Emporium = a large store with a wide variety of things for sale

plus we thought it would make a cool company logo (thanks Alicia for your creativity)
